SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Registration is open for a golf tournament Oct. 15 to benefit the South Orange Rescue Squad.
The fundraiser at the Maplewood Country Club is being hosted by the squad and the South Orange Citizens Public Safety Committee. Following the golf tournament, a prime rib dinner will be served at Cryan’s Beef and Ale House in celebration of the South Orange Rescue Squad’s 60th anniversary.
The money raised will help defray the rescue squad’s operating cost, which includes ambulance payments, medical equipment, building utilities and medical supplies.
Tournament players will receive gifts and a continental breakfast, and will participate in a putting competition. A tournament highlight is an opportunity to win a new Ford Focus, courtesy of Maplecrest Ford, by hitting a hole-in-one.
Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to sign up as soon as possible because space is limited. Registration for golfers is $175 per player or $650 for a foursome. For registration information, click here. Nongolfers are invited to attend the dinner for $75.
“This is a great way to bring the community together while supporting a very deserving organization,” said Sheena Collum, chairwoman of the Citizens Public Safety Committee and co-chairwoman for the tournament. “Our goal is to raise as much money possible for an organization that provides an invaluable service to us all, and every little bit counts.”
In addition, volunteers have been selling raffle tickets and T-shirts at the South Orange train station and various other locations throughout town.
