MADISON, NJ - On Tuesday evening, Dec. 11, Deanna Peterson opened her home in Madison for a night of eating, drinking and socializing as the Thursday Morning Club held their annual Holiday Sherry.

According to its website, “the mission of the Thursday Morning Club has been to serve Madison and surrounding communities, enhancing the well-being of its citizens by undertaking progressive programs, while offering its members opportunities for personal enrichment.”

The event takes place at a member’s home and every person brings an appetizer or a dessert. Close to 60 people attended the Holiday Sherry this year.

“It’s a great way for us to get together, relax and eat,” said Club President Anne Lawless.

Peterson, who only joined the club two years ago, was excited to host the dinner. After living in Madison for 20 years, she said she heard great things about the organization and wanted to be a part of it.

She volunteers in many organizations and said it is always important to give back, especially during the holidays.

“I love the club,” she said. “It’s a dynamic group of women. There isn’t a cause that they don’t take up.”

Peterson said she thought it would be fun to hold the dinner, but she was surprised so many people came because it was a weekday. It was a great event and she hopes to hold it again in the future, she said.

Longtime member Theresa Kluck said it’s always a lovely evening at the Holiday Sherry. Being able to schmooze with friends and enjoy a drink is always fun, she said.

“I think it’s wonderful,” she said. “We raise money for good causes. It’s a good club to belong to.”
