Livingston Public Schools to Have School Every Weekday Next Week So Long As There is Power
Thursday, November 1, 2012 • 7:46pm
LIVINGSTON, NJ - The Livingston Public Schools have just announced the following:
All Livingston Public Schools and Offices will be remain closed on Friday, November 2 due to the continuing power outages resulting from Hurricane Sandy.
At Livingston Public Schools, we are anxious to welcome students and staff back to school and restore instruction and routine as quickly as possible in our classrooms.
At this time, the majority of schools remain without power. If power is restored by Sunday night, we are planning a full week of school for students and staff.
Please note: This is a change from the School Calendar.
Schools will be open for students for the full day on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6.
And with NJEA, the public teachers union, canceling its annual convention, Livingston Public Schools will be open on Thursday and Friday, November 8 and November 9.
In order to resume full instruction, Livingston Education Week has been canceled. There will be no parent visitation. Though we know the children will be disappointed, elementary schools will not hold Halloween Parades.
At elementary schools, children must bring a bag lunch as we are unsure if local vendors will be able to provide a hot lunch.
The SAT exam scheduled for Saturday, November 3 at Livingston High School has also been canceled. The exam has been re-scheduled for November 17.
Additional information regarding specific schools will be coming from your principals.
