The Theater Project Workshop for Youth will be holding auditions for its summer program Tuesday, June 19 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at The Jardine Academy/Cerebral Palsy Center, 61 Myrtle St in Cranford. Information Theater Workshop for youths age 8 -18 

Seven weeks – June 26st to August 19th, 2011 

Rehearsals – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. 

The last two weeks are mandatory. At the end of the session, students will give three (3) performances – August 17th, 18th and 19th (Aug 19th is a Sunday matinee.) 

Students will learn: 

- Acting and vocal techniques - Character development 

- Stage makeup - Presentation skills 

 

Interested students can also gain knowledge in the technical aspects of theater – stage management, set design, lighting, etc. if they choose to volunteer for those crews. 

Admission is by audition. Class enrollment is limited.  There will be a $325 registration fee for those accepted (discounts available for multiple children in same family).  Students will also be asked to participate in fundraising for the production by selling ads in the program and tickets for the performances to help defray production costs. 

Auditions will take place on June 19 from 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Jardine Academy, 61 Myrtle St, Cranford NJ. Please plan on being there the entire time – bring comfy clothes/shoes, snacks, water, etc.  During auditions, they will be asked to: 

-       Sing two songs from the show with piano accompaniment

o   The Candy Man  

o   I Want It Now 

-       Sing one song of their own choosing without accompaniment (does not have to be from the show) 

-       Memorize the monologues provided – Sides 1 & 2 if you come to the audition without memorizing the monologues, you may not be considered for a lead role 

-       Perform a scene from the script

-       Learn and perform a brief dance routine (taught that day)
