The Montclair Public Library's monthly program "An Evening of Poetry" reconvenes Thursday, December 6th at 7:00 pm in the Auditorium at 50 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair, NJ.

This month's featured poet is Maria Mazziotti Gillan who celebrates the publication of her newest book, The Place I Call Home (New York Quarterly Press, Fall 2012).

Postponed due to Superstorm Sandy, this is the first of a series of poetry readings, which will continue into 2013 on the first Thursday of each month. Maria Mazziotti Gillan is a recipient of the 2011 Barnes & Noble Writers for Writers Award from Poets & Writers, and her book All The Lies Between Us won the American Book Award in 2008. Her latest book is The Place I Call Home  (2012, New York Quarterly Press). She is the Founder/Executive Director of the Poetry Center at Passaic County Community College in Paterson, NJ.  She is also Director of the Creative Writing Program and Professor of Poetry at Binghamton University-State University of New York. She has published fifteen books of poetry, including The Weather of Old Seasons (Cross-Cultural Communications), and Where I Come From, Things My Mother Told Me, Italian Women in Black Dresses, and What We Pass On: Collected Poems 1980-2009  (all Guernica Editions). She is co-editor with her daughter Jennifer of four anthologies: Unsettling America, Identity Lessons, and Growing Up Ethnic in America (Penguin/Putnam) and Italian-American Writers on New Jersey (Rutgers). She is the editor of the Paterson Literary Review.
