The Great Ice Cream Quest - Celebrating National Ice Cream Month At The Sprinkle Shack

Did you know this month is National Ice Cream Month?

I didn't, until I visited The Sprinkle Shack in Sparta where the notice about the day greeted my kids and me upon entering their grounds.

Timely, considering my recent food fixation.

As my readers of this column know, for the past few years, I have been scoping out some great places to do dessert in New Jersey...first cheesecake, then cupcakes, and now ice cream.

The Sprinkle Shack was the latest stop on my quest for delectable desserts in the Garden State.

The Sprinkle Shack has been an ice cream institution along Route 15 for the past few years. Known for serving up and dishing out some great ice cream, it is always a terrific stop for travelers looking for a break, and of course locals looking to enjoy a cup or cone of creamy sensation.

For me, I enjoy a visit there when I'm passing through the Sparta and Lafayette areas.

The Sprinkle Shack is a little haven, nestled alongside of some fields, it is a nice break to enjoy a seat at their picnic tables, with their signature multi-colored umbrellas while savoring a flavor.

I couldn't resist a cup of blueberry ice cream on my last trip. One of my family members joked with me once that he likes to have fruit ice cream, because it makes him feel like he's eating somewhat healthy...and I like his ice cream philosophy.

Of course, we know blueberries are a summertime fruit, and loaded with antioxidants so, I'd like to think my body is getting a boost with every scoop. And especially because there were tiny whole blueberries infused within the blueberry and cream goodness.

And of course, there are other flavors for all to enjoy, from Peanut Butter Ripple to Pillsbury Cake Batter to Orange Cream Dream, there is something for everyone.

One of the signatures at The Sprinkle Shack, in addition to the unique flavors, are the sprinkles themselves. They are prominently placed at the counter in shake bottles, with each separate color represented, so you can shake and sprinkle to your heart's desire.

July isn't over yet, so if you haven't filled your National Ice Cream quota yet, I suggest a trip to The Sprinkle Shack to do it.

And if you don't live local to the Sussex County Area, find your nearby ice cream shop to celebrate.

The Sprinkle Shack is located at 640 Route 15. The Sprinkle Shack also serves up lunch and dinner, in addition to all types of ice cream.
