My name is Cataldo J Urso, owner/operator of Happy Feet Children's Footwear in Short Hills, and I know the importance of fitting children's shoes. Before opening Happy Feet I needed to make certain that anyone hired was properly trained in fitting children's shoes. My staff and I have decades of combined experience fitting children's shoes.

When measuring a child's feet there are several important measurements that need to be taken in account. First you have overall length, then you have to measure the heel to ball and of course width. Just as important is making certain both feet are measured as most children have two different size feet. All of these factors along with how a shoe itself fits goes into fitting children's shoes. Some shoes & sneakers run longer or wider and aren't always appropriate for every child's feet, which at times could be difficult when a child wants a particular style but at the end of the day it's important to make certain the child's shoes fit correctly for proper growth and comfort.

When fitting a child's foot is also important to make certain that shoes are not fit too big as this can cause children to trip and fall as well as promote unhealthy foot development.  Fitting shoes too big also helps the shoe wear out faster as the shoe breaks at the wrong point thus not helping to get more wear out of a shoe.

Lastly, it's also important that your child is wearing quality footwear made from breathable materials. Children's feet perspire 2x more then adults so wearing quality footwear helps children's feet breathe.

If you are at all uncertain of your child's size please stop by Happy Feet Children's Footwear for stylish, quality , expertly fitted children's footwear. Happy Feet is located at 514 Mill burn Ave Short Hills NJ 07078 973 467-feet (3338)
