Hardwood or Carpet?

Hardwood or Carpet?

High end carpeting can be less expensive than hardwood, and it absorbs sound.  It also provides padding that your feet appreciate.  It can also be easier to install.  However, if you should find hardwood underneath, it's probably more cost effective to refinish rather than a new carpet installation.  Carpet probably needs to be replaced every 10-15 years whereas hardwood can last a lifetime with proper care.

The best way to protect your carpet investment is to plan a schedule for maintenance with frequent cleanings.  Carpets are notorious for harboring harmful bacteria.  Hypo allergenic carpeting is now available specifically designed for healthier living.  (Consider this option with Cramers!)

As for hardwood floors, this can be a healthier option as well because they can't hide bacteria or dirt and everything can be easily swept up.  It's easy to maintain on a regular basis.  Hardwood can last a lifetime but can be easily scratched by tots, toys, critters and frequent un-noticed spills.  To keep hardwood happy, clean up wet spills quickly and use hardwood floor cleaner.  Place area rugs in high traffic areas.  (Cramers has those too.)

There are pros and cons to hardwood and carpet.  Both require regular care in order to maintain their appearance and beauty.  So, hardwood or carpet?  Which is right for you?

No worries.

Bottom line - Cramers Carpet One can help you with either choice and provide you with a regular cleaning maintenance program as well!
