Westfield, NJ—On September 15 at the Westfield Armory, iBid Auctionsand Trinity Solar presented “Helmets & Heroes,” a classic car show and auction and chili cookoff to benefit The Paul Jackson Fund, Friends of Firefighters, Westfield Family Readiness Group and Atlantic Regional Firefighters Burn Foundation.

Jets fans were delighted to meet Joe Klecko of "New York Sack Exchange" fame. Music was provided by the Union County Police and Fire Pipes and Drums band, as well as a local radio DJ. Included in the price of admission was the chili cookoff, where guests were invited to taste and vote to determine which of the competing firefighters, first responders and local chefs cooked up the best homemade chili in Westfield.

“I’m having a ball,” said Annette Strunk, one of the volunteers passing out samples of chili at the event. “It’s a great cause. You can’t beat it.”

Many car-lovers got a sneak peak at a cocktail party and dinner the night before the show, which also benefited the local charities.

“What I’m really looking to do is to put together a true community event. I’m hoping this can be an annual event where we can honor the first responders and the military and give something back to the community,” said Richard Bodmer, CEO of iBid Motors. This was the second annual “Helmets & Heroes” event. iBid also runs Westfield’s annual spring “Wheels and Wishes” car show and auction to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
