New Providence Pioneers Dominate Pingry, 49-3

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - On Friday evening, the New Providence Pioneers dominated Pingry in all aspects of the football game and came away with a 49-3 victory at New Providence High School’s Lieder Field.
The first quarter was intense on the offensive end for the Pioneers. New Providence running back Derek Singer scored two touchdowns at 5:53 and at 3:36, giving the Pioneers a 13-0 lead over Pingry. Other standout players in the first quarter included Vinny Sidoli and Ronnie Doyle.
In the second quarter, New Providence scored two touchdowns: Ronnie Doyle scored at 8:59 and Vinny Sidoli scored at 4:03; New Providence held a 28-0 lead over Pingry. New Providence Linebacker Johnny Barletta had a crushing sack of the Pingry quarterback at 8:14 in the second quarter.
A few seconds before the half, Pingry kicked a field goal, which put New Providence up 28-3.
In the third quarter, Vinny Sidoli scored his second touchdown of the evening giving the Pioneers a 35-3 lead. C.J. Kliesch also scored for the Pioneers at 4:34. New Providence's Yamato Ejiri scored a touchdown at 6:35 in the fourth making the final score 49-3.
New Providence Head Coach Joe Carollo told TheAlternativePress.com he was impressed with his team's effort. they came out witrha balanc ed attacka nd didn't stop until the game was over.
"I think my team performed well," Carollo said. "We have a lot of talent and we need to raise our game to defeat truly great teams as we anticipate on doing next week.”
As for any changes he'd like to see on the team's part as it continues the season, Carolla had one word: "focus."
