City Cops Get $71,000 in Worker's Comp Cases

PATERSON, NJ – The City Council on Tuesday approved three settlements of worker’s compensation claims filed by Paterson police officers injured on the job.
The largest of the three was a $40,230 settlement for Officer Paul Tafuri. City documents say Tafuri was hit by a motor vehicle on McBride Avenue on September 7, 2009 and sustained injuries to his left shoulder and left knee.
A $16,253 settlement was approved for Officer Juan Lubrani. City documents say Lubrani fell and was injured while attempting to arrest a suspect on the second floor of 12 Paterson Avenue on June 9, 2010. Lubrani hurt his right ankle, according to city records.
A $15,450 settlement was approved for Officer George Figueroa. City documents say Figueroa’s patrol car was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of McBride and Danforth avenues on September 29, 2009. Figueroa suffered injuries to his neck and back from the crash, records say.
