Christie Says Paterson Shouldn't Be Asking for More Money

PATERSON, NJ - Apparently, Gov. Chris Christie doesn't think too highly of a City Council proposal to declare a state of emergency because of Paterson's crime problem.
The goal of the resolution is to get more money for Paterson's law enforcement efforts from the state and federal.
“I know our offices have been on the people of Paterson and the elected officials to start working together,” Christie said on Monday, according to a story on politickernj.com. “They’re already getting a large amount of state aid. They shouldn’t be asking Trenton for more money.”
In a story on northjersey.com, Christie says he would reject declaring a state of emergency in Paterson because the city has mismanaged funds.
The city council resolution is scheduled for a vote on Tuesday. PatersonPress.com broke the story about the state of emergency proposal on Friday.
