In a time where many municipalities are considering all options to reduce municipal property taxes, I would like to invite you to attend a special meeting to discuss municipal consolidation in New Providence.  It will be held on March 1st at 7:30 p.m. at the New Providence Town Hall on 360 Elkwood Avenue.

As the Mayor of Princeton Township, we recently spearheaded a successful effort to consolidate Princeton Borough and Princeton Township.  The result will be a single municipality that will save $3.2 million dollars annually by eliminating staffing redundancies.  In addition, we have the ability to save even more by sharing our real estate assets and reducing capital expenditures.

At the same time, we will also be able to deliver our services more efficiently and effectively.   I believe there is an opportunity for other municipalities in the state to achieve the same or greater savings.

The meeting will be conducted by Courage To Connect New Jersey, a non-profit, bi-partisan organization that serves as an informational resource on municipal consolidation.  Courage To Connect NJ will present the many benefits of consolidation and provide attendees with an overview of the consolidation study process.

Courage To Connect NJ is a tremendous resource that can help you explore the options available for your town.  I will share our experiences in Princeton and discuss how they can be applied to your community.  Please join us.
