Paterson — Letters to the Editor

On the Renewal of Dr. Evans' Contract

Dear Editor:

(NOTE: this letter reflects my personal opinions and not those of the district or the Paterson BOE.)

I would like to take a moment to write about the renewal of Dr. Donnie Evans' contract. I fully support the decision of the state Commissioner of Education. I hope that in time, we will see the results which the community is requiring.

The work of the Paterson BOE must in all cases, exceed the expectation of the parents and the community at large. I would like to mention that Dr. Evans has, on countless occasions, made himself available to me the last several months, for which I am grateful.

Many people are dissatisfied with the direction the district is headed in. But I'm an optimistic person. I believe that things are going to turn around for the Paterson School District. We have the power to make the changes needed to bring the successes we so desire.

If the parents, school administrators, teachers, parent liaisons/coordinators and the entire district put aside their differences, and find ways to work to find ways in which things can become better, only then will things get better.

I've never been one to use fancy words and long phrases. I strive to get right to the point. And my point is, we must find ways to connect by any means to help in rebuilding our school district.

I don't want to sound redundant, but I feel that is necessary to make it clear that we all must play a part in the progress of this district. Pointing a finger at the Superintendent, his cabinet or the Board will not make a single improvement. Bringing solutions to the table, and discussing them as adults should, will help to bring the results we all want to see in Paterson.

Sincerely,

Mr. Corey L. Teague
