For the Good of Paterson: Paterson Doesn't Need Steve Rothman

In response to Mr. Santana’s letter to the editor the question arises, Why would Paterson need Steve Rothman? In the eight years I worked with former Mayor Torres (2002 - 2010) I think I may have met Rep. Rothman once - and that was at an event outside Paterson. Rothman has never shown any interest in Paterson, or concern for the people of Paterson until now, when he needs the votes.

It is interesting to note Mr. Santana’s real motive for writing a letter critical of the man who has been Paterson’s best friend for longer than Santana has been alive. In his second paragraph Santana states: “Pascrell turned his back at our aspirations to become 4th Ward Councilman.” So because our U.S. Congressman didn’t support Mr. Santana for Council the people of Paterson shouldn’t support Bill Pascrell... ridiculous!

In his letter Santana also suggests “the people of Paterson did not get the representation we deserve in the 1st, 3rd and 4th Wards...” I suggest the people of Paterson are smarter than Mr. Santana gives them credit for. They got the representation they wanted, they just didn’t want Mr. Santana... again!

I believe the people of Paterson will support Bill Pascrell because he works harder for his constituents (and especially hard for  Patersonians) than anyone in the U.S. Congress. A vote for Pascrell is a vote for Paterson and Patersonians.
