Zella Geltman is an Essex County Legend

Long time volunteer at the Margulies Senior Center Zella Geltman was named an Essex County Legend and received the Essex County Legends Award from the office of Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo. Zella was presented with the honor at the Sixth Annual Essex County Older Americans Heritage Month Celebration. A social activist and retired teacher, Zella volunteers as a reader to the blind, works with the New Jersey Blood Bank, and is involved with the Interfaith Hospitality Food Network. At the JCC, Zella has led a Creative Writing Group for seniors for the past 10 years. A gifted writer herself, Zella has inspired a generation of seniors to leave a written legacy for future generations. A self-proclaimed “child of the universe,” Zella was recognized as a super star volunteer who has touched the lives of many.
