YMCA-PTA Council’s Third Annual 5K Run and 1 Mile Run/Walk on Sat, April 26

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA and the Scotch Plains-Fanwood PTA Council host the 3rd annual 5K Run and 1 Mile Run/Walk on Saturday, April 26 beginning at 8:30 a.m.  The event will start and end at the Y (1340 Martine Ave.) in Scotch Plains.  Proceeds from “United for a Cause” will benefit the LIVESTRONG Program at the YMCA and the PTA Council Health and Wellness Scholarship.

LIVESTRONG at the Y is a 12-week physical activity program free to members of the community who are recovering from cancer. It offers educational seminars, childcare assistance and services for financial management and ultimately helps recovering cancer survivors; “get their lives back” physically, mentally and spiritually.

The 1 Mile Run/Walk will begin at 8:30am with the 5K beginning at 9:15am.  There is a $12 Run/Walk registration fee for the 1-mile Run/Walk and a $25 5K fee for participants.  Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Race check-in and package pick up will be held at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA on Friday, April 25, as well as Pre-Race Pasta Dinner on Friday, April 25 from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m.  The cost of the dinner is $5 and directly benefits the YMCA’s Annual Campaign.  Reservations are recommended.  The dinner event is open to all members of the community.
