On Sept. 16, 2013, the gorgeous and challenging Montclair Golf Club will once again be the venue for the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges’ Annual Kids Care Club Golf Tournament.  The outing, a perennial favorite, draws foursomes of community minded supporters intent on providing the YMCA experience for children, families and seniors.  Many sponsoring businesses and benefactors have participated every year, with a dedication to support the Y Mission strengthening community.

Susan Ascher, vice-chair of the Board of Directors, co-chair of the Golf Committee and 2012 DeGhetto Champion’s Cup recipient shared "When I proposed this outing 19 years ago, I was new to golf and to the Y, now both are a personal passion.  What a fantastic feeling coming off a gorgeous course after a beautiful day of golfing with colleagues and friends, knowing that one of the best parts of the game was that it supported the children and families in my community."

“Economic hardship continues to significantly impact families and children.  Each year, requests for financial assistance grow in the communities we serve.”  says Lisa Kelly, Director of Financial Development.  “Our commitment is to welcome and include all and that no one will be turned away due to their inability to pay. The proceeds from this annual effort of volunteers and donors enable the Metro YMCA to say “Yes” when asked for assistance.”

A YMCA experience can help a child to learn more about themselves, develop independence, and foster their interpersonal relationship and leadership skills.  One parent commented, “Every year I send my son to camp, but the kid I pick up is not the same as the one that I left in your care.  He is happier, healthier, and has grown a person.  Three weeks at camp each summer have a profound effect on my son’s life.  My son found a zest for life at camp that I had not witnessed in him before.”

Opportunities to support the 2013 Kids Care Golf Outing are still available. Registration fees include green fees, carts, caddies, unlimited brunch, and drinks on the course, cocktails and dinner and program. A live auction follow the dinner with a wide variety of items up for bid.

The Y Golf Tournament is an excellent way to positively impact a child’s life forever.  For more information on how you can participate, contact Lisa Kelly at 973-758-9622 or www.metroymcas.org/golf
