Scotch Plains/Fanwood —

Women’s History Month Film Series at Scotch Plains Public Library

Tuesday, March 11, 2014 • 9:51am

On Fridays at 1:00pm in March, the Scotch Plains Public Library will celebrate Women’s History Month with films directed by women.

On March 21, join the library staff for Bright Star (PG, 119 min).

Bright Star explores nineteenth century poet John Keats and the girl next door, Fanny Brawne.  They started out as unlikely lovers who were totally at odds with each other. However, when Brawne offers to help Keats nurse his seriously ill brother, the two soon became involved in an unstoppable romance that only his untimely death at age 25 could bring to a shattering end.

On March 28, join the library staff for Stories We Tell (PG, 108 min).

Stories We Tell is a genre-twisting film by director Sarah Polley, who investigates the elusive truths of her eclectic family of storytellers as she playfully interrogates a cast of characters who each relate their version of the family mythology. Polley reveals the essence of family as she uncovers the secrets buried deep within.

This program is free and open to all interested participants. Attendees are encouraged to register through the library’s website: http://www.scotlib.org or by phone: 908-322-5007, x.204 or e-mail library@scotlib.org .

The Scotch Plains Library is located at 1927 Bartle Avenue, one block from Park Avenue in the center of town.
