Woman Resists 2 Robbers Who Tried to Grab Her Bag in South Orange

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ -- [A weekly roundup of SOPD activity] Two muggers with guns tried to steal a bag from a Newark resident as she walked along South Orange Avenue near South Kingman Road at 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 26.
The victim told police that two men in their early 20s attacked her and hit her in an attempt to grab her bag. She did not give up the bag, and they ran east on foot. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

A Harding Drive resident reported his garage and car were broken into and an older model cell phone and charger were stolen. The incident occurred Jan. 27. A Township recreation department employee told police 30 gallons of gasoline were stolen from his garage. The incident occurred between Jan. 11 and Jan. 25.

A late-model Infinity FX3 was stolen from the driveway of a Montague Place residence between Jan. 27 and Jan. 28.

A Harding Drive resident reported that someone has stolen the owner’s manual and paperwork from her car. They later were found nearby. The incident occurred Jan. 29. An Apple iPod, a Garmin GPS and a JVC radio were stolen from the car of a Ward Place resident. The incident occurred on Jan. 30.
- Three people reported damage to their vehicles. An Overhill Road resident said that someone had entered his vehicle, which was parked in the driveway. The incident occurred Jan. 27. A Lenox Place resident said someone broke into her vehicle. The incident occurred Jan. 27. An Audley Street resident said that someone damaged her vehicle but was unable to break in. The incident occurred Jan. 26. Nothing was reported stolen in the three incidents.
