WARREN, NJ - The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for most of New Jersey Dec. 8 advising drivers to go slowly and use caution because of snow in the afternoon mixing with sleet this evening.
Visibility may be reduced to a mile with light snowfall or half a mile in moderate to heavy snowfall, according to the service, and temperatures will be cold enough for snow to accumulate up to a few inches, making for slippery conditions on untreated surfaces as well as bridges and overpasses.
Two- to three inches of snow and sleet are possible overnight, until warming temperatures turn the mix to rain, says the National Weather Service. Expect icy conditions and a messy morning commute.
NJ Transit will cross-honor its bus, rail and light-rail tickets from 6 pm on Dec. 8 through the end of the service day on Dec. 9, “enabling customers to use their ticket or pass on an alternate travel mode—rail, light rail or bus—including private bus carriers.”
