Winter Storm Hercules to Bring 6.7" to West Essex Area

At 10:27 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for  northeast New Jersey, including West Essex. The warning is expected to be in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday until 1 p.m. Friday afternoon. The warning was issued because of the likelihood of heavy snow, strong winds and dangerously cold wind chill temperatures

This is a slow moving storm and the forecast for first snowfall continues to be revised.

According to the National Weather Service station at the Caldwell Airport in Fairfield, snow is expected to fall in the West Essex area from Thursday at 2 p.m. until Friday at 10 a.m. The snow should be at its heaviest from Thursday at 7 p.m. until 4 a.m. Friday

Total Accumulation: 6.7" by 1 p.m. Friday
Extremely cold temperatures on Friday into Saturday.
