SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit Free Public Library is offering a selection of free winter and holiday programs for children this month.

On Dec. 8 at 2 p.m., kids of all ages are invited to “Snowy Storytime!”  Kick off the citywide winter festivities with stories about snow with Ms. Lynn.

On Dec. 14, from 2 to 2:45 p.m., the library will present a “Winter Celebration of Light: Tales and Tunes of Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Divali” with Jeslyn Wheeless and “Jolly Old Ben”.  This program is for children in kindergarten through Grade 5, and will include a quartet of fourth- and fifth-grade girls from Continuo Arts, a piano solo by a fifth-grade boy, in addition to explanations of the four holidays with stories and songs.  For example, children will learn Swahili words in the song, “Jambo Bwana,” to celebrate Kwanzaa.

Children may read to Seeing Eye puppies in the monthly program, “Books and Woofs,” on Dec. 16 from 7 to 8 p.m. On Dec. 28, elementary and middle school students will see the film of their choice at 2 p.m. The choices are “The Croods,” “Monsters University,” and “Wreck-It Ralph.”

For each of these programs, register in the Children’s Department, or call (908) 273-0350, extension 4, or register online at www.summitlibrary.org. The Summit Free Public Library is located at 75 Maple St.
