When Downtown Gets Tasty

What is better than a fabulous town and some delicious food? Nothing, really. Now through February 28th downtown Westfield is having its annual restaurant week. For me this is a win-win. I get to spend time in the Westfield’s beautiful downtown and enjoy some of the best food it has to offer.
Twenty-nine Westfield businesses will be taking part in this event – each offering a discount in one form or another. Who doesn’t love a good deal? The most common offer is a $10 2-course lunch and a $20 2-course dinner. With twenty-nine businesses participating and only two weeks to dine, you might find it difficult to map out a plan. While ALL the participating restaurants are fabulous, here is a sampling of the wide variety of restaurants you can try:
1.Limani Seafood Grill. If you love fresh seafood, you are going to love Limani’s. This is by far my favorite seafood place in town! If it’s lobster your craving – you get to choose your own right out of the tank. The lobster tail is my favorite. Don’t leave without trying their warm apple crisp with sweet cinnamon ginger and vanilla ice cream! Yum!
2.Pita Grill & Creperie. The new kids in town! If you are in the mood for some delicious Mediterranean food, Pita Grill & Creperie is the way to go. This restaurant features quick-serve, made-from-scratch, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern favorites such as kabobs, falafel, shawarma, sandwiches, salads, and my favorite – gyros! They also feature French crepes made daily.
3.Boulevard Bistro. Looking for an authentic Italian style restaurant to bring the family? Boulevard Bistro is the place. This location offers a wide range of fine Italian cuisines, including seafood, fresh vegetables, breads, poultry, desserts, and more! I have a strong Italian background, and every time I visit the Bistro I feel like I am at home.
4.Splash of Thai. This restaurant features delicious Asian food with of course, a splash of Thai. The atmosphere is cozy, warm and inviting and the staff is always super nice. The food proportions are filling and the prices are fair. I have had a few informal business lunches here, and they have always been accommodating. Don’t leave without trying the Thai iced tea – it’s delicious!
5. Swirl Whirl Yogurt Buffet. I just had to include a sweet place like this to my list of “must-try” for restaurant week. Their catch phrase is “swirl the moment” - I love it! They always have 10 flavors of frozen yogurt to choose from, and each day the flavors are different. They have dozens of toppings to choose from including fruits, sweets and natural things like granola and peanuts. At Swirl Whirl Yogurt – you are the boss! You can pick out the perfect combination of yogurt and toppings. I personally love “Mountain Vanilla.” Yum!
No matter what participating restaurant you decide to dine at during Restaurant Week, you are surely in for a treat. Happy eating!
