What I Love About Fall in Westfield

Fall is most definitely my favorite time of year. While I love the warm weather of summer, trips to the beach, and well needed vacations – there is just something about fall that I truly look forward to all year long. The end of August and the beginning of September is a bittersweet time. As the summer fun comes to an end, fall and all its beauty is just around the corner. I love when the weather starts to get cooler, kids go back to school, and hints of the autumn season start popping up in stores. And there is nothing better than spending my favorite season in one of my favorite places – Westfield! There are many, many reasons why I love Westfield in the fall, and I want to take this opportunity to name just a few.
The annual Westfield FestiFall! This is an event presented by the Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce. Every year they close off the streets, and downtown Westfield turns into a safe and fun family festival. I love when the town gets together for events like this. It truly gives a sense of community when family, friends, and local businesses come out to celebrate a good time together. A celebration of my favorite time of year!
Change of the season. When summer turns into fall, downtown is truly a sight to see! The trees turn beautiful colors and line the streets of Westfield. Taking walks in our magical local parks wearing sweatshirts and jeans is my favorite! The autumn air is crisp and wonderful, with the smell of wood burning fireplaces, and the sounds of crunching leaves. Soon children will be picking their perfect Halloween pumpkin from the fields of Williams Nursery. The year has matured into a robust and exhilarating season.
Store fronts show their fall spirit. Nearing the end of September you can tell autumn is in the air in downtown Westfield. Store fronts feature pumpkins, harvest wreaths, leaves, scarecrows, and colors of brown, and orange, and gold representing fall. It’s such a beautiful site to take a walk downtown and see all the stores participating in the season. Westfield wears a warm coat of hometown neighborhoods and community, and makes you want to stick around.
Local stores sell seasonal products. Local stores start selling some of my favorite fall treats. You should taste the pumpkin pie at Bovella’s or the caramel apples over at Brummer’s Chocolates – hands down the best around! And don’t forget the cider donuts at Alan’s Orchard and homemade mulled cider seasoned with spices from Savory Spice. Apple pies, fresh apple cider, and other delicious treats of fall can be found in the local shops. Not to mention all the delicious specialty foods sold around Thanksgiving! Mmmm... I can hardly wait!
I especially love selling homes when fall is in the air, because it allows me to show off our town in all of its beauty and color. And it doesn’t take much convincing when people are immediately touched by the warmth of community and home, and experience just how fantastic Westfield truly is!
