WESTFIELD, NJ — The JCC of Central New Jersey’s 9th Annual Jewish Film Festival will kick off Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. with the New Jersey premiere of The Third Half, the true story of a Macedonian soccer team during the turmoil of WWII.
A different film will be shown each week from Oct. 23 to Nov. 19 at the Rialto Theatre, 250 E. Broad Street, in Westfield. Other films include The Attack, about a man who discovers that his wife was responsible for a devastating suicide bombing; Disobedience: The Sousa Mendes Story, about the man whose defiance of Nazi law resulted in “the largest rescue action by a single individual during the Holocaust;” AKA Doc Pomos, one of American music’s greatest untold stories; and Simon and the Oaks, an epic drama that vividly illustrates the situation faced by Jews in Sweden during WWII.
“I am excited to begin our 9th annual Jewish Film Festival of Central New Jersey at the Rialto Theatre in Westfield,” said Amy Warsh, the JCC’s Cultural Arts & Education Director. “Our audience continues to grow from year to year and this wonderful cultural event gives the community the opportunity to think, laugh, cry and discuss together.”
