WESTFIELD, NJ - The line stretched out the door and around the corner for goodie bags and maps given by the Downtown Westfield Corporation at Girls’ Night Out in Westfield on Oct. 17. More than 2,500 women registered for the event, according to DWC Executive Director Sherry Cronin.

“It was the most successful Girls’ Night Out,” said Cronin, who has overseen six such events in the last three years. She credited Assistant Executive Director Beth Brenner for coming up with the idea, which has gained popularity and size with each event.

Earrings from South Moon Under, which held its grand opening that night, were given by the DWC to more than 1,000 registrants, and reusable shopping bags were sponsored by Barnabas Health. Representatives from Westfield’s Lord & Taylor were on hand nearby at the registration area, as well.

Nearly 100 Downtown shops and restaurants participated in the event, offering specials, sales and giveaways. Get in Shape for Women on South Avenue offered prizes and special pricing on memberships. Limani Seafood Grill on North Avenue offered $10 off of dinner for every two ladies. Retail shops were packed with women shopping and enjoying free refreshments.

Girls’ Night Out in Westfield takes place every fall and spring.
