Westfield Woman Reports Lewdness, Homes Burglarized

July 21, 2014 2:30 p.m.

Report of the theft of CDS valued at approximately $200.00 from a business in the 1500 block of Lamberts Mill Road. Suspect took the medicine between 8:00 a.m. on 07/16/14 and 10:00 a.m. on 07/17/14.

July 22, 2014 11:54 p.m.

While responding to a call for unknown person(s) running through the rear yard of residences and jumping fences in the area of the 1100 block of Lawrence Avenue, officers spoke to a 19-year old male who stated that he was the victim of a theft. Victim states that $70.00 in cash was taken by an unknown actor who was also with two other unknown actors. Suspects then fled on foot.

Detectives took into custody a juvenile suspect, 16, who was wanted on a juvenile complaint for defiant trespass, a disorderly person’s offense.  Juvenile was processed and released into his parents’ custody.

Detectives took into custody a juvenile suspect, 16, subsequent to a motor vehicle burglary investigation. Juvenile was charged with burglary (3rd degree), credit card theft (4th degree), and intent to defraud a credit card holder (3rd degree). Juvenile was also charged with disorderly person’s offenses for theft and receiving stolen property. Suspect juvenile was processed and released into his parents’ custody.

Detectives took into custody a juvenile suspect, 16, who was subsequently charged with possession of CDS. Juvenile suspect was processed and released into his parents’ custody.

Aswad Turner, 20, was arrested subsequent to a burglary investigation which occurred on 04/09/14 in the 400 block of Downer Street. Turner was charged with 3rd degree burglary and D.C. theft. Turner was processed and committed to Union County Jail pending the posting of bail.

Charles Pollard, 51, of Elizabeth was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Westfield, Cranford, Elizabeth and Union. Pollard was processed and held for court.

July 24, 2014 3:04 p.m.

A resident in the 300 block of Wychwood Road reported that she was the victim of fraud. She received a phone call from an unknown suspect claiming to be from PSE&G for an electric meter replacement which required a $1,000.00 deposit. Once funds were sent via MoneyGram, she realized the caller was an imposter posing as a PSE&G representative.

July 25, 2014 9:00 a.m.

A resident of the 600 block of Roosevelt Street reported that he was the victim of criminal mischief to his motor vehicle. Victim states that his vehicle sustained damage to its driver side mirror and numerous scratches along the front and rear driver side door as well as the hood of the vehicle.

A resident in the 200 block of Scotch Plains Avenue reported to be the victim of fraud on the Craigslist web site. Victim sent $523.00 via Western Union for concert tickets offered on Craigslist and received nothing in return.

After responding to an alarm call on Lawrence Avenue, officers noticed that entry had been forced to claim entry to the residence through an interior garage door. Unknown what was taken at this time. Scene was processed and dwelling secured.

A resident of Harrow Road reports a burglary to their residence. Resident reports upon returning home they found the home had been ransacked. It appears entry was forced through a rear window. Detective Bureau is investigating.

July 26, 2014 2:01 a.m.

After being stopped for a motor vehicle Benjamin Koket, 30, of Westfield was arrested for DUI. Koket was processed and released to a responsible adult.

July 26, 2014 9:33 a.m.

A business in the 300 block of E. South Avenue reported the theft of 2 motor vehicles from their property. The suspect(s) were originally given permission to possess the vehicles but then failed to return them.

A resident inside the 100 block of Fairhill Drive reported an incident of lewdness in the neighborhood. A male actor exposed himself as she was driving her vehicle through the area.

July 26, 2014 11:26 a.m.

A resident within the 100 block of Bell Drive reported a burglary to his motor vehicle. Suspect(s) smashed the driver(s) side front window and pried the truck in order to remove a set of golf clubs and GPS unit. Both items were valued at $1,300.00.

July 26, 2014 4:32 p.m.

A resident of Harrow Road reports he discovered a burglary to their residence. Footprints were observed and it appears entry was forced through a rear window. Detective Bureau is investigating.

July 27, 2014 11:55 a.m.

Report of criminal mischief to a motor vehicle in the 100 block of Effingham Place. Victim reports that suspect(s) unknown gouged several scratches into the vehicle that had been parked in the street between 4:00 p.m. on 07/26/14 and 11:55 a.m. on 07/27/14.

Cynthia C. Crane, 49, of Westfield responded to Westfield Police Headquarters to satisfy two ATS warrants issued by Westfield Municipal Court (total bail $110.00). Crane posted bail.

July 28, 2014 12:29 p.m.

Report of ATM fraud in the 200 block of N. Avenue West. Victim reported suspect(s) unknown somehow obtained $300.00 from her account.

July 28, 2014 10:30 p.m.

Joe Caldwell, 70, of Union was arrested for a DWI following an investigation in the 1700 block of Central Avenue. Caldwell was held at Westfield Police Headquarters pending his sober release.
