The winners from each of the eight regions, along with two wild cards, will now move onto a final round of 10. The final winner will receive $5,000 to be split evenly between the two schools, with other cash prizes to be awarded to all of the national finalists.
The Blue Devils and Cardinals have played every Thanksgiving Day for over 100 years.
“There are thousands of fans every year at the game, generations in attendance," said Westfield Athletic Director Sandra Mamary.
“I think it’s great that our school and community continue to support the team and the rivalry,” said Westfield High School Head Football Coach Jim DeSarno. “While so many traditional Thanksgiving games no longer play, it’s nice to know our game is still alive and popular.”
Westfield will bested Plainfield on Thanksgiving this year with a score of 34-0.
Voting for round in the contest begins on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at noon. For more information and to vote, click here.
