Westfield Marching Blue Devils Place 1st in Competition

WESTFIELD, NJ--On October 27, the Westfield Marching Blue Devils competed in their third competition of the season. It was at the Jay Doyle Field, home of the East Brunswick High School Bears. Westfield competed against four other bands in their category, 4A--Middletown High School South, The Union High School Marching Farmers and the Franklin High School Warrior Marching Band.
 
Westfield placed first in their category and second out of all of the class A bands in the competition, right below Scotch Plains. Their score was 90.65. They also won the award for Best Music in their category.
 
Freshman clarinet player Natalie Karter said, "Winning the competition was awesome! It was such a nice surprise. It was also great to hear that we have improved since the last competition. Our hard work has really paid off."
 
The Westfield Marching Blue Devils will attend the State Competition at Rutgers University next Sunday and Nationals in Annapolis, Maryland on November 10.
