WESTFIELD, NJ—John Viglianti of Westfield recently received the Bronze Star with the “V” for valor device for his service in the WWII Battle of the Bulge, which took place in December 1944. An administrative error delayed this honor for almost seven decades.
Recently, Union County Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella presented Viglianti with a lifetime golf card for the Ash Brook Golf Course in Scotch Plains. The 97-year-old is a “remarkable guy and a really good golfer,” said Jack O’Malley, who hits the links with Viglianti each Monday, usually at Ash Brook. “I think this means a great deal to him.”
