WESTFIELD, NJ — This season, the Westfield High School Girls’ Lacrosse team plans to dominate the field with team unity and drive. Made up of a roster of 24 girls, the Blue Devils have the numbers on their side.

Faced with one of the toughest schedules this year, according to Head Coach Samantha Warner, the Blue Devils’ strategy will be primarily to focus on how they play as a team, rather than on their opponents, in order to compete at their top level.

The Blue Devils are set to play 15 regular season games this year, including games against Mountain Lakes and Summit.

“Every player on the team, whether they are planning on playing in college or not, is so determined and focused on getting better each day in practice, which speaks largely to how committed everyone is to the team, and I think that’s something that is really going to set us apart this year,” said senior Co-captain Alexis Kardias.

Westfield will be led by six seniors this year, each of whom are “amazing” and “tremendous leaders on and off the field,” according to Warner.

Another factor that the team hopes will set the Blue Devils apart is their unity.

“From the first player on the field to the last girl on the bench we support each other on and off the field,” said Warner.  “Individual success is not as important to them as their success as a team.”

“We have such a talented group of players and I think if we can figure out how to all work together and not only be great players but great teammates then we will be incredibly successful this year,” added Kardias.

Westfield will look for their first win against Oak Knoll on Wednesday, March 26, at 4:30 p.m. at Gary Kehler Stadium.
