WESTFIELD, NJ — Girl Scouts in Kindergarten through high school are gearing up to deliver and sell tens of thousands of their beloved cookies in Westfield over the next month after a shipment arrived at the Westfield Armory Tuesday.

“Westfield has had its initial order cookie delivery done at the armory for many years because our order is big,” said Westfield Service Unit Cookie Manager Joanne Penn, who is in her third year coordinating cookie sales activities for the Westfield troops.

“We had received 37,980 boxes, or 3,165 cases, of cookies yesterday. Seventy-six troops had orders to be picked up yesterday; the largest troop order was 109 cases—1,308 boxes of cookies. All went very smoothly due to the support of all the troop cookie managers,” she said Wednesday.

Penn said that Thin Mints are always the most popular cookie, and Tuesday they received 961 cases. The second most popular are Samoas (coconut), of which they received 610 cases. Third most popular are Tagalongs (chocolate-peanut butter), at 463 cases.

Girl Scouts at a recent Westfield Town Council meeting told Mayor Andy Skibitksy that selling cookies was their favorite thing about the organization. To read that story and watch the video, click here.

If you haven’t ordered your Girl Scout cookies yet, you’re in luck. Cookie sales will continue until April 21, and many scouts are setting up booths around town, Penn said.
