Westfield Flyers Track Club Athletes Compete at National Championships

Nine athletes from the Westfield Area Y Flyers Track Club competed in the AAU and USATF Track and Field National Championships. Eight were among the more than 8500 athletes that competed at the USATF National Junior Olympics July 21st – 27th in Humble, Texas and one competed in the AAU National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. Six Flyers athletes finished in the top 10 and three brought home All-American honors.  

Flyers that finished in the top 10 are:

USATF: Humble, Texas

3000m Race Walk Girls’ Ages 13-14 Division: Melissa Endy – Silver Medalist, All-American

1500m Race Walk Girls’ Ages 11-12 Division: Grace Endy – Six Place, All-American

1500m Race Walk Boys’ Ages 11-12 Division: Paul Koizumi – Eighth Place, All-American

1500m Race Walk Girls’ Ages 11-12 Division: Lauren Henkel – Ninth Place

1500m Race Walk Boys’ Ages 11-12 Division: Matthew Ackerman – Ninth Place

 

AAU: Des Moines, Iowa

Javelin Girls Age 13 Division:  Nicole Massa – Fourth Place

In addition, Madeline Walters placed 14th in 11-12 girls mini-javelin.  Eamon Mason & Andrew Vilarin finished in the top 35 in the 8 & under boys 1500m race.
