WESTFIELD, NJ -- Westfield High School native band Static Jacks will officially release their sophomore album, In Blue, on Sept. 30. The album, which is available for preorder on iTunes and the band’s website, staticjacks.com, was sold at the band’s official album release party at New York’s Webster Hall Sept. 24.

Singer Ian Devaney, guitarist Henry Kaye and drummer Nick Brennan graduated Westfield High School in 2008. Static Jacks released their first album in 2011, shortly after signing a record deal with Fearless Records. With their second album, the band hopes to regain momentum with songs they feel better represent their stlye and growth as musicians.

“At the terrifyingly old age of 23, we stopped caring just about playing as loud and fast as we could and started to tone back the volume knobs a little bit,” Kaye said.

To record their album, the band teamed up with producer and friend Andrew Maury. The band worked with Maury for about a month in Retromedia Studios in Red Bank, NJ.

“We paced ourselves and found that playing loud and fast is most effective when it follows playing quietly and controlled,” said Kaye. “Dynamics are like a new toy for us.”

The band was recently featured on Fuse News to discuss the making of the video for their new single, “Wallflowers.” Watch it here:
