arry Weiner of Westfield has just self-published his first novel, “Before The Poisoned Apple,” and he is offering a unique writing contest to Westfield High students, and a unique drawing opportunity for everyone.
The book, tells the tale of the seven little men who saved Snow White, long before they met her. It's the first in a series, with this first book telling of their adventures until they're about 10-years-old.
Weiner’s pen name is LS Dubbleyew and his website is lsdubbleyew.com
(same for my facebook page.)
For the contest, full details will soon be on the website, but in short, there's no entrance fee and the winner will get full credit and acknowledgment for contributing to a chapter in the second book. It's a unique and great way for aspiring young writers to learn about the publishing process and to get a writing credit. Teachers and faculty are excited to assist, but cannot sponsor the contest (as they can't sponsor any contests, but they are eager to encourage the students.) All participants will be posted on Weiner’s website.
Concurrently, Weiner is seeking original drawings of ogres, monsters, witch's, elves, etc... that will also be flavored into the second through fourth books in the series. Any drawings selected will be given proper credit and exposed to an audience of fantasy lovers.
Weiner will have a "meet and greet," at the Towne Bookstore in Westfield on March 16, between 2-4 p.m. and will have literature on hand for both the writing and drawing contests.
