WESTFIELD, NJ — Junior Jacqueline “Jackie” Knapp scored the 1,000th point of her high school basketball career Tuesday evening during a game against Union, making her the fifth female to achieve this prestigious accomplishment at Westfield High School.

Knapp joined her teammate Lillian Scott as the second Lady Blue Devil this year to become a member of the “Thousand Point Club.”

Knapp celebrated after the game along side three of the four other females to receive this honor.

“It’s exciting she’s here with Erin Miller and Lillian Scott … and Liz McKeon, which is really nice,” said Westfield Head Coach Joe Marino.

Knapp hit a three to score her 1,000th point in the middle of the fourth quarter surrounded by friends and family who were there to celebrate her success.

Knapp’s drive and determination in her basketball career did not start when she got to high school; rather, she said, it began when she was just three years old.

“I started playing because my dad loved it and it became our special little thing when I was young,” said Knapp.

According to Knapp, her love for the sport has only continued to grow.

“Basketball is just so much fun. You’re always moving. And through basketball I have met not only my best friend, but so many other great friends of mine.”

Knapp and the rest of the Westfield Girls’ Varsity basketball team look forward to the first round of sectionals next Tuesday against Dickinson, which will be played at home at 7 p.m.
