WESTFIELD AREA Y RECEIVES CHECK TO SUPPORT NEW GARWOOD FAMILY CENTER Y FROM THE NORTHFIELD BANK FOUNDATION

On Wednesday, January 23rd, the Northfield Bank Foundation generously donated and presented the Westfield Area Y with a $10,000 check to support renovation and furnishing of the childcare classrooms at the new Garwood Family Center Y, located 500 East Street in Garwood.
The Center offers year round full day child care from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday-Friday for ages 2 ½-5 years old. Children enjoy a well-balanced blend of social interaction and self discovery through free play, gym, art, music and learning centers. Preschool is available for ages 3-4 years from 8:45-11:14 am and 8:45-2:30pm. Preschool programs follow the Garwood school calendar.
Also offered at the Center is an after school experience for students in grades K-5. Program activities will include sports, recreation, arts and crafts, homework time and much more. The program is available two, three, four and five days a week right after school until 6:00 pm. Before school care beginning at 7:00 am until the start of the school day as well as extended care until 6:30 pm are also available.
Kids Club Drop In is available for those who need to run errands or just need some “me” time. Air-conditioned Summer Day Camp for kids entering K-5th includes tons of outdoor fun and activities such as field games, playground time, sports, art projects, team building, water games, cooking, recreational swim at the Main Y facility and a weekly trip or special event!
The new facility even includes activities for youth and adults such as a 9:15 am Body Sculpt class on Wednesdays for adults, free to members and available to non-members; afternoon enrichment classes for kids such as Intro to Tae Kwon Do on Thursdays for ages 4-12 or Kidfit on Tuesdays for ages 5-7. More classes and programs will be added each session.
