Westfield Area Y Educates and Protects Children Within the Area by Offering Child Abuse Awareness Training
Saturday, September 29, 2012 • 4:18pm
The Westfield Area Y is taking steps to educate and protect children within our community by participating in the “Darkness to Light” program. A “Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training” will be held on Wednesday, October 17th from 7:00-9:00pm at the Main Y Facility, 220 Clark Street in Westfield.
This program educates adults to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The training session will help adults build awareness on what to look for and steps to follow in order to protect our children. Child sexual abuse is an agonizing and traumatic experience for its victims and is a crime punishable by law.
The training is for adults only and open to members and the community. Interested participants should register in person at the Welcome Center or online by October 10th. Please call Janice A. Carthens at (908) 233-2700 x227 or email firstname.lastname@example.org any questions.
The Y is the nation’s leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Visit www.westfieldynj.org to learn more about Westfield Area Y programs. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
