WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Town Council meeting held January 8th focused primarily on a discussion regarding documentation sent by Prism development to the Town Council on Friday, January 4. The council had requested specific financial reports from Prism Green Urban Renewal Associates . Residents that came out to the Town Council meeting continued to be unhappy with the lack of information provided, and town council members were also dissatisfied with Prism’s response.
Prism sent 646 pages of information, but the documentation did not contain all the financial information council members had asked for. Residents opposed to redevelopment came to the meeting to voice their opinions, calling for action and more involvement from the council. Others suggested the town terminate the agreement due to the lack of cooperation on Prism’s part. To this, Councilwoman McCartney replied that she was not ready to walk away from a project that 50 million dollars (on Prism’s part) has been invested into.
In addition to discussion surrounding Prism, several upcoming events were mentioned, including the 50th anniversary of the Turtle Back Zoo in 2013. On January 21st, residents are welcome to join in on the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration at St. Joseph’s church at 9:30. On January 23rd the West Orange Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual breakfast meeting at 8am at The Manor , which will include Mayor Parisi’s State of the Township address.
All resolutions on the agenda were passed. The meeting ended at 8:20 pm. The next meeting will be held in two weeks, on Tuesday, January 22nd.
