West Orange To Receive Block Grant For Street Repairs

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The township will receive a Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to effect improvements to four streets in the Heights section. More than 80 percent of the project’s cost will be financed by the grant, in the amount of $341,352.00, will be administered by Essex County.
The four streets scheduled for improvements are Kling Street, Ridge Avenue between Franklin and Whittlesey Avenues, Erwin Place and Liberty Street.
Construction will begin as soon as possible, weather permitting, and completion is expected in the Spring of 2013. as weather permits.
Mayor Robert Parisi said “Block Grants enable the Township to improve a neighborhood in the most cost effective manner without burdening all our property owners for the full cost of the improvement.”
