WEST ORANGE, NJ - While West Orange parents and students dash to malls for new fall wadrobes and school supply stores in anticipation of opening day on Sept. 9, teachers have already been hard at work organizing their classrooms to welcome their students, taking workshops, and preparing for the all the district and state requirement changes for the 2013-2014 school year.
The West Orange High School PTA, who helped to provide benches for the new "Quiet Zone" and new "all in one computer tables" in the Library Media Center, co-hosted a special "Welcome Back" luncheon at the Tarnoff Cafeteria this afternoon. The luncheon was catered by Sodexo, the district's food service purveyor. There are 180 full-time teachers at West Orange High School and an additional 50 aides, plus administrators and supervisors.
This year's student enrollment is expected to exceed 2,200 students. The West Orange School district anticipates an overall student enrollment of 7,000 students for the 2013-2014 school year.
