West Orange Resident to Star in Edison Production of "Sunset Boulevard"

WEST ORANGE, NJ - West Orange resident Julie Stiel will be featured in the role of Norma Desmond in the Plays In The Park production of "Sunset Boulevard" at the Stepphen J. Capestro Amphitheater, Roosevelt Park, Edison, from June 18-28.

Also featured in the production is Billy Piscopo as Joe Gillis, Scott Daniels as Max, Emma McGahan as Betty Schaefer, Bob Nutter as C.B. DeMille, Kirk Geritano as Artie,  Abe Vorensky as Sheldrake and Jeffrey O’Neil as Manfred. The cast consists of 21 actors from all over New Jersey and New York.

The Tony award-winninng musical is based on Billy Wilder’s 1950 film noir classic of the same name, the story follows struggling screenwriter, Joe Gillis.  Romance and tragedy ensue when he accidentally finds himself at the mansion of Norma Desmond, a once-great star of the silent film era. As both chase success, neither of them can manage to get everything they desire. 

“This looks to be another stellar season for Plays-in-the-Park,” said Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios. “I encourage everyone to attend this production, not only to enjoy beautiful Roosevelt Park, but also to see and hear the remarkable contributions of so many talented actors, musicians, technicians and directors.”

Tickets for Sunset Boulevard can only be purchased on the night of the performance. The Box Office is open from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on the evenings of all performances. Tickets cost $7 for adults, $5 for seniors (60+), and are free for children ages 12 and under.
