West Orange Resident Susan Anderson Named New Executive/Artistic Director of New Jersey Arts Incubator

WEST ORANGE, NJ - Long-time West Orange resident Susan Anderson has been named the new Executive/Artistic Director for New Jersey Arts Incubator, currently housed at the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center (OSPAC) at Boland Drive in West Orange, effective Oct. 8.

Andrea Susan Anderson is currently the owner and president of Black Star Communications, a full-service entertainment agency. Anderson is also a former journalist who has worked for media organizations including The Star-Ledger, Associated Press, News America Inc. and North Jersey Media Group. In addition, she worked as a publicist for Sony Urban Music. 

“This is a great opportunity for West Orange, OSPAC and the New Jersey Arts Incubator,” said NJAI Chairwoman Lisa Scalora. “Susan is a long time West Orange resident with both producing and marketing experience, and she has a deep commitment to our township and the arts.”

In additional NJAI news, David Peart will join as producing director, working with Anderson to involve the West Orange Community and beyond with creative and diverse programming. 

“I am honored that I have been named the next executive director of the New Jersey Arts Incubator. The arts are a key part of community life here in Essex County and David and I are looking forward to helping it grow with this organization,” said Anderson.

Peart is also a West Orange resident. He is a retired New York City detective and a professional investigator.  In addition, Peart is a music producer and manager that has produced concerts and has experience in the nightclub industry. He will  provide management and organizational support for NJAI with his experience in concert and nightclub operations.

“I am thrilled that Susan and David are joining us at NJAI@OSPAC,” said founder and vice-chair Amy Simon. “With their leadership I look forward to seeing the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center achieve the community, and artistic goals the township has always had for it, and for the New Jersey Arts Incubator to enter its second decade with a reenergized vision for artists and for the region.”
