West Orange Offers Health Services to Residents

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange Health Center is offering several services to West Orange Residents. The West Orange Health Center is located in the John P. Renna, Jr. House at 10 Gaston Street (rear of the building). The Center provides health services for all residents and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am until 4:30pm. Appointments are necessary and can be made by calling the Health Center at 973- 325- 4130.
Vaccinations available for a low cost: The Health Center offers low cost vaccines to the school-aged child (7 to 18 years old) for those residents that have limited or no health insurance. Children are seen by appointment only. Please call the Health Center for additional information.
Blood Pressure screenings: Free blood pressure screenings are available by appointment on a regular basis. Blood pressure screenings are done to assist clients in monitoring their health and are not in place of routine medical care provided by a physician. To make an appointment, please call the Health Center.
Women’s Wellness Program: Low cost pap tests and mammograms (in partnership with Diagnostic Radiology of Northfield) are available at the Health Center. The Health Center Physician can also provide prescriptions for oral contraceptives through the family planning services for women who participate in the program.
Home Visit Nursing: The Public Health nurse will make a home visit to the home bound senior resident for assessments. Referrals are made to appropriate agencies for supportive and supplemental care.
Vision screenings: The Health Center optometrist will screen and evaluate residents for visual acuity, cataract and other diseases related to the eye. This evaluation is a screening only and the Health Center does not provide treatment. Refractions are available for a low cost to residents who meet financial requirements.
Podiatry Care: Evaluation and routine foot care is provided to senior residents meeting eligibility requirements for a low cost. Traditional Medicare is accepted.
Screenings: Other screenings are available for a low cost fee, such as testing for cholesterol, colon cancer, and Mantoux.
The services at the Health Center are prevention and detection focused. The professional staff does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. These services are not in place of primary health care necessary to maintain well being.
