WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Nikhil Badlani Foundation partnered this year with the U Got Brains Organization to help promote traffic safety awareness and  support the efforts of West Orange High School in this year's Champions Challenge to win a driving simulator for their school. WOHS students designed vehicle stickers and bracelets to raise awareness of distracted driving and traffic safety.

Because West Orange High School was one of the last schools to apply for the contest, the sponsorship of the Nikhil Badlani Foundation enabled the high school to participate.

Although the top winners this year were Columbia and Lenape High Schools, the highlight of the awards evening was the announcement by New Jersey Manurfacturer's President and Chief Executive Officer Bernie Flynn,  that not only would the grand prize winners receive driving simulators, but all 53 participating schools would also receive driving simulators in honor of the Company's 100th anniversary. Each simulator is valued at $10,000.
This week the Nikhil Badlani Foundation and James O'Neill, interim superintendent of the West Orange School District, received notice of the simulator, and more.

In recognition of NBF's sponsorship and support of the U Got Brains organization, the full cab simulator, which will be delivered in October, will be dedicated in memory of Nikhil Badlani, who passed away in 2011 after a distracted driver ran a stop sign. Making the dedication especially poignant is the fact that Nikhil would have been entering West Orange High School in September.

The Nikhil Badlani Foundation provides music scholarships and programs for West Orange students, and has partnered with Essex County Community Traffic Safety Program to provide Driver's Education to high school students in Essex County communities, including West Orange.

The foundation's largest fund raiser, the Stop: Run/Walk for Nikhil, will be held on Sept. 22 at West Orange High School. Visit their website to find out more.
