West Orange High School Boys Basketball Blows Out Belleville 81-40

WEST ORANGE, NJ - Following a triple overtime win against Montclair on Thursday night, the Mountaineers overcame fatigue and defeated Belleville handily by a score of 81-40 on its home court on Friday night.
West Orange Coach Greg Tynes said the biggest challenge coming into the game was being mentally and physically ready and bouncing back from the 73-72 triple overtime win last night in Montclair.
West Orange had three players score in double figures in Thursday’s game and received balanced scoring on Friday as well. Three players scored in double figures for West Orange in the game. Andy Fleurantin had a team high 14 points, Isaiah Scott followed up a 21 point performance on Thursday with 12 points against Belleville, and sophomore Andrew Scholz scored 11 points.
West Orange controlled the game from the tip and Belleville never led in the game. Strong first period efforts by Scholz and Scott propelled West Orange to a 26-11 lead after the first eight minutes.
West Orange never released control of the game and there was never a threat of a comeback. Belleville could not solve West Orange’s suffocating defense and pressure, but did receive a 23 point effort from Quayzre Smith in the loss.
“I felt we executed well, we played very unselfish basketball,” said Tynes. "We moved the basketball a lot."
West Orange improves to 7-9 and will play at Hillside on Tuesday night, while Belleville still cannot find its way into the win column falling to 0-18. The Buccaneers will pursue its first win on its home court against North 13th Street Tech on Tuesday.
