WEST ORANGE, NJ - On Friday, Sept. 20, Thomas, Sharon, Laura, Rebecca and Julia Rondinella, West Orange residents for more than 22 years, will appear on the popular television game show "Family Feud" starring entertainer Steve Harvey at 5 p.m. on WWOR-TV (Channel 9 in most markets).

The Alternative Press of West Orange caught up with Laura Rondinella, who filled us in on all the important details of their appearance:

Thomas teaches Film Production at Seton Hall University and was, according to Laura, the most uncomfortable family member in front of the camera.  Mom Sharon is the Theology Campus Minister at Seton Hall Prepatory School.  Laura, 26, is an actor and teaches at New York Kids Club in Manhattan.  Rebecca, 24, is an RN at St. Joseph's Hospital in Clifton, and the youngest, Julia, who is 22, is a full-time student at Seton Hall and a part-time nanny.

The girls all attended the former St. Joseph's School (now John Paul XXIII) on Benvenue Avenue and Lacordaire Academy in Montclair.

How did the Rondinella Family get on Family Feud?  "We heard about auditions being held in Atlantic City" said Laura, "and we sent a video for pre-selection."  The producers called us and we went.  We found out we were selected on March 13, and the production company flew us to Atlanta where we filmed our episode on May 13."  The program is filmed in Atlanta to accommodate Steve Harvey's schedule.

Was being on Family Feud and answering questions on TV different than answering them from your living room? Laura laughed immediately and said "it was SO different.  You're under the lights, Steve Harvey is standing in front of you, and it feels like you have no time to think."

So tell us... what is Steve Harvey REALLY like?  "Steve Harvey is the most sincere, personable, and engaging person I think I've ever met," said Laura.  "He showed us pictures of his family - his wife and kids... he is so family oriented.  During the breaks, he was so engaging and interactive with the audience. We came away with such a great respect and love for him."

Rondinella also praised the entire production company of Family Feud, noting how comfortable and 'at home' the team made them feel.

Who wins - the Rondinellas or their opposing family?  You know we can't give that information away! Wtch (or DVR) the show on Friday to find that out!
