WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Board of Education has given its approval to install lights on Suriano field and to redo the turf on Lincoln Field.
The board approved the measure during its regular meeting Monday night. Some residents raised questions regarding permits needed to use the facilities, and who would have full control over the facilities since costs will be paid from leftover township monies.
However, board members assured the public that school activities receive first priority and permits will still be required for other organizations using the facilities. The public was further assured that there will be reasonable usage requirements for the Suriano field lighting and that town ordinances benefitting nearby residents will be observed.
The superintendent’s report included acknowledgement of the upcoming high school spring musical “Miss Saigon,” a reminder to the public of the Diversity Committee meeting to be held on March 19, and kindergarten orientations to be held March 12 at Washington elementary school at 7 p.m. and March 13 at Liberty Middle school at 7 p.m.
The district's budget hearing will be held on Wednesday, March 27 at 8 p.m. in the Library Media Center at West Orange High School and will include a full presentation of the budget. The meeting will be televised on 36/45.
