Weekend Shooting Latest for 4th Ward Hot Spot

PATERSON, NJ -- The non-fatal shooting of an 18-year-old Paterson resident Saturday evening at the corner of 10th Ave. and E. 27th. St. was the latest in a string of violent activity in that area of the 4th Ward neighborhood over the last few years.
Three were shot in a drive-by incident at the corner of 10th Ave. and E. 27th St. last July 25. Five weeks earlier, on June 17, two were wounded in a shooting incident near the same intersection. Exactly a year earlier, on June 17, 2011, there were two shootings at the corner of 10th Ave. and E. 27th St. And in November, 2009, a stabbing took place at 10th Ave. and E. 27th St.
“It’s one of the areas within the city that we pay (particular) attention to,” said Lt. Patrick Murray of the Ceasefire Unit of the Paterson Police Department.
